Since joining the City Council, I have learned a good deal about how we each experience life in Edina differently. It has become clear that many people of color do not enjoy the same friendly, welcoming environment that I do as a white person.
I believe that Edina can be a welcoming place for everyone. The City Council recently received a report from the Race and Equity Task Force to help the City assess the current conditions and learn what we can do to improve the experience of any person of color who lives in, works in, or visits Edina.
The Council recently approved actions to move the City forward on race and equity issues. This step is only the first in what will undoubtedly be a long process toward becoming a more welcoming community to all races.
